Interviews, advice columns, and benefits (Oh my!)

Wednesday, August 11th, 2010

Hey all,

Just wanted to give you a quick update on what’s going on this hazy, lazy day of our rapidly escaping summer.

First, there’s a new Dear Boogie up on Boston Band Crush. I definitely enjoy writing this weekly advice column and if you haven’t checked it out, please do. There’s also a new online form to submit your questions.

Speaking of online stuff, I was honored to be interviewed by the ebullient Mackenzie Outlund of This Blue Heaven on her blog post this morning. Mack and I got into some deep shit and also some very shallow shit. Check it out.

On a more serious note, one of our own in the Boston music community needs our help. Ben Garceau of the band Roman Traffic was in a bad accident and needs help covering his medical bills. Jason Dunn of The Luxury has put together a great rock and roll benefit show to help Ben this Saturday at Harper’s Ferry. Check out The Luxury site for details.

In a couple of weeks, I return to the stage after what seems (to me anyway) like a long break (It’s been a whole month since the Rock Primary! Gasp!) to take part in the Old Jack residency at the Rosebud on Saturday August 28.

Hope you’re all having a great summer. Nighty night! Keep your butthole tight!

Should be a fun, eclectic night of rock music.  Come beat the heat in the cool welcoming confines of the Lizard basement.

Fleetwood Mac Cover-Up May 15

Tuesday, May 4th, 2010

In all the hubbub (or is it hub-hub? huhb-bub?) about the Songwriter Residency at the Somerville Armory, I feel like I’m neglecting my sweet baby Cover-Up. And oh, what a crime that would be. Because we’ve got a doozy of a humdinger coming up in a few weeks.

May 15. Fleetwood Mac. Bam. What what?

Check out this line-up: Old Jack, St. Helena, This Blue Heaven and Tony Goddess’ Lindsey Buckingham Appreciation Society performing the album “Tusk” in its entirety. Special guest appearances by Jim Boggia, Jason Dunn and Glenn French (Jason’s dad).

Don’t let the fact that I’m doing a residency this month consume your entire life. There’s more than enough love to go around. Lizard Lounge on Mass Ave in Cambridge 5/15 8.30 doors $10 adv/$12 door 21+
