Stinko de Mayo

May 9th, 2012

Has your May been stinko so far? What with all the drunk college kids on tequila pretending to be Mexican and state legislative bodies nullifying your marriage? Look no further for the relief you need because there are a coupla cool events coming up.

This Friday May 11, my band of brothers and sister in Parlour Bells is playing our first post-Rumble show over at Precinct this Friday night. With The Daily Pravda, Eddie Japan, and Crooked Streets joining the party, you know that Union Square in Somerville is going to be a significantly sexier place this Friday night.

Then, for what is sure to be a fascinating evening looking into some very strange minds, John Powhida and Rob Potylo (nee Roadsteamer) will be joining me as my guests on Rock Therapy on Wednesday May 16. If you can’t make it to the Somerville Armory, be sure to listen live right here on brendanboogie.com. Or if you’re even LAZIER, you can wait a couple days and download the podcast on iTunes. There’s no reason you shouldn’t be listening to this. None whatsoever.

As far as new original Boogie music, I have been in the lab with my new outfit and things are really cooking. I’ll have something to announce as June approaches. Your minds will be blown. Or at the very least fondled.

Rock Therapy returns

April 10th, 2012

First off, thank you all for your love and support of Parlour Bells in this year’s Rock N Roll Rumble.  We had the set of our lives and met lots of great new fans and friends.  It was a great experience all around and when it comes to Parlour Bells – the best is yet to come, my babies.

But next on the docket is the second sessions of Rock Therapy with Brendan Boogie, the new music and interview podcast that is sweeping the nation with its awesomeness.  This month, my guests will be Gene Dante and Al Polk from Streight Angular.  If you’ve ever met or seen either of these two perform, you know that I’ve got my hands full climbing into their heads.  Should be can’t miss radio.  If you can’t make the live show, be sure to listen live by clicking on the Rock Therapy button up there.

Parlour Bells in the Rumble TONIGHT (plus video from Moe’s Lounge)

April 5th, 2012

Super excited that my other outfit Parlour Bells is playing the Rock n Roll Rumble tonight!  Come on by TT the Bear’s Place and show us some love.

Thanks so much to Jade Sylvan and the other great acts that played with us for our little sneak preview show at Moe’s Lounge last week.  Sophia’s Rock Beat were kind enough to capture some video of the new tunes:

Rock Therapy and more awesome shows that are awesome

March 23rd, 2012

Thanks so much to all that came out for the debut sessions of Rock Therapy with Brendan Boogie at the Somerville Armory. By all measures except financial, I think we could call the debut a smashing success. But don’t take my word for it – listen to the show by clicking on the ROCK THERAPY button up yonder that-a-way and judge for yourself. We’ll hit you with information about next month’s show… uh, some time next month.

In other show news, I’m bringing the new band to Moe’s Lounge at Radio on Friday 3/30 for another little “sneak preview” set of all the new material we’ve been working on since I threw the old catalog to the wolves. I’m psyched to be a part of the video release party of Madame Psychosis (aka Jade Sylvan) and her new song “Fan Boy.” If you look close, you might see a certain pink-and-black-donning rock hero in the video itself. For info on the show, go to Jade’s website or the facebook event.  We’ll be playing last and it’ll be all intimate and shit.  Come on by.

Rock Therapy is tonight!

March 21st, 2012

Join us at the Somerville Armory (doors at 7:30) or listen online by clicking on the “ROCK THERAPY” button up there above.  If you have any questions for either Ad Frank or Tad & Kate, feel free to send an email to rocktherapy@brendanboogie.com during the show!

Interview with little ol’ me in the Weekly Dig

March 13th, 2012

The great Craig Terlino sat down with me to discuss Rock Therapy and other various and sundry topics for the Weekly Dig. Check it out.

The thighs of March are upon us…

March 9th, 2012

Sorry – inside joke from the bathroom wall of the old Abbey Lounge.

March is pumping it big time at ol’ Boogie HQ. Just had a little “sneak preview” set of some of the new material at Cafe 939 last weekend. You know, kicked it with the Berklee kids. They were impressed with my acoustic guitar wizardry and use of major AND minor chords on a few songs. So that was good stuff. If you missed it, the new outfit has another little “sneak preview” show coming up at Moe’s Lounge at Radio on Friday March 30 as part of Madame Psychosis’ video release party.

But before that, I’m going to dish out a little Rock Therapy. It’s a new concept that I’ve been tinkering with for a long time and I’m thrilled to finally put it into action. Rock Therapy will (hopefully) satisfy the inner music nerd in those of you who don’t tire of hearing the stories behind the music, the process, the neuroses, the joys and struggles that come with this frustrating glory known as making music. You’ll get to be a fly on the wall to hear the kind of conversations that usually happen in empty bars during load-out or late night sessions at the rehearsal space. If you’re interested in that sort of thing, you should certainly tune in.

How do you see/hear the show? A few ways:

1. Come to the Somerville Armory on Wednesday March 21 and be a part of the live studio audience. Free! And there’s beer and wine now!
2. Listen to the streaming podcast here on brendanboogie.com.
3. If you’re busy on Wednesday keeping up with the Cardigans or whatever show is on E! that night, you can listen to the podcast at your leisure. They will be archived right here on (you guessed it) brendanboogie.com.

In addition to putting up with my grilling, my first guests Ad Frank and Tad & Kate from Sidewalk Driver will be answering your questions live in person and via email. It’s interactive, baby!

Any questions?

Introducing Rock Therapy with Brendan Boogie!

February 22nd, 2012

I’ve spent the last few weeks teasing a new project I’m working on. Well, it’s time to finally let the canoli out of the bag. Ladies and gentlemen…

Rock Therapy is a new music interview show in which I climb into the heads of some of your favorite artists to see what makes them tick. The show will emanate from the Somerville Armory on the third Wednesday of every month and will be podcast live right here on brendanboogie.com.

Our inaugural episode takes place on Wednesday March 21 at 8pm featuring my guests Ad Frank and Tad & Kate from Sidewalk Driver. All ages and absolutely free! More info to come as the show approaches!

It’s a two-show weekend! When will you sleep?

January 23rd, 2012

Just a quick reminder that Annapalooza is this Friday at the Gulu Gulu Cafe in Salem. This show is a benefit for the American Heart Association in memory of my dear friend Ann Repp so please come out and support a great cause while watching a terrific show. Not only are Magen and I reviving a little Low Static Romance action for the first time in months, but you’ll also get a sneak preview of the new Best Intentions (minus one). Come on out and hear the new songs in their infancy.

Just in case that’s not enough for you, join Parlour Bells the following night as we present the 2nd year of the Winter Formal. Fancy dress is encouraged. Many of you witnessed the glory that was the Dating Game last year and we have more fun for you again, so come early and come often.
